Biography
Pedro Rodríguez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a visual artist and musician who resides in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Rodriguez received a Master in Art Therapy and a Master in Teaching Arts and Spanish from the University of Louisville. He then moved with his family to South Carolina where he taught art and Spanish in the Charleston County Schools for over twenty-eight years. He has participated in many solo and group exhibits, including Piccolo Spoleto, MOJA and Artists Who Teach at the Gibbes Museum of Art. His work has been recognized with several awards. In 2011, his painting Strings was selected as the art design winner for the North Charleston Arts Festival. Also a musician, Rodríguez performs traditional Latin American music at festivals and Charleston-area events. His presentations often feature a combination of his artwork and his guitar-playing to teach about Latin American culture.
Creative Interpretation
Listening to the recording took me to the fields of Puerto Rico and Johns Island in Charleston County. Sundays were a time of celebration in which the Latino community gathered to celebrate in communion under the cross. Everyone joined in eating, singing and praying in the name of God. The hard work of the week was lost in praise and friendship. In the journey of life when the community clings to the faith, everything becomes possible.

Biografía
Pedro Rodríguez, músico y artista plástico nació en San Juan, Puerto Rico y reside en Goose Creek, Carolina del Sur. Rodríguez se graduó de la University of Louisville, Kentucky con una Maestría en Terapia de Arte y una Maestría en Educación y Español. Luego se mudó con su familia a Carolina del Sur, donde se desempeñó como profesor de arte y español en las escuelas del condado de Charleston durante más de veintiocho años. Ha participado en muchas exposiciones individuales y grupales y su trabajo ha sido reconocido con varios premios. Su obra ha sido incluida en Piccolo Spoleto, MOJA y la exposición Artistas que Enseñan en Gibbes Museum of Art. Su pintura Cuerdas fue la obra de arte seleccionada para promover North Charleston Arts Festival 2011. Como músico, Rodriguez interpreta música tradicional de América Latina en diversos festivales y eventos locales. Interpretación creativa
Escuchar la grabación me llevó al campo de Puerto Rico y también a Johns Island en el condado de Charleston. Los domingos eran un momento de celebración en los cuales la comunidad latina se reunía a celebrar en comunión bajo la cruz. Todos se reunían a comer, cantar y orar en el nombre de Dios. El duro trabajo de la semana se olvidaba en la alabanza y la amistad. En la jornada de la vida cuando la comunidad se aferra a la fe todo se hace posible.
