Biography
Dalia Delanuez was born in Honduras, has lived in Florida, and currently resides in South Carolina. She graduated from Clemson University with an MFA and an emphasis in sculpture. She was the recipient of a Clemson Alumni Fellowship. Delanuez explores human spiritual expression symbolized by nature through sculptural and performative works. Recently she has been exploring the contaminative effects of plastic in the body and in the planet. Delanuez was one of eight artists selected to receive the 2014-2017 Art in Public Places national award in Bristol, Tennessee by Steven Matijcio, curator of the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her work has been displayed in group exhibitions, public installations, and galleries in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, Honduras, and Germany.
Creative Interpretation
When I hear the story of Elsa, I identify with her as a young woman, married, with a newborn baby in her arms trying to make sense of her life. Her story made me go back into an impetuous time of youth. I could only think of young birds flying free and making nests of ideas in Elsa’s hair. For me, Elsa is a dreamer, an innocent artist who decided to take risks and jump out of a tale of ideals and flawless visions. In her dreams, there was a desire and a need to succeed, to be able to get money for her son’s diapers, to have a little house, and to experience the deep excitement of traveling in a plane like a rich tourist from Argentina. I decided to take a black and white photograph with encaustic on it to evoke a dream and the outbursts of madness that remain in the memory of youth. In the photograph, a girl spreads a cloak through her imagination. I picture the future of her decision in small boxes simulating fantasies in transparent compartments that remain fragmented yet eternally captured in time.

Biografía
Dalia Delanuez es una artista con una trayectoria multicultural. Nacida en Honduras, Delanuez ha vivido en Florida y actualmente reside en Carolina del Sur. Se graduó de la Universidad de Clemson con un master en bellas artes con énfasis en escultura con la beca de Clemson Alumni Fellowship. Delanuez explora la expresión espiritual y humana simbolizada por la naturaleza a través de obras escultóricas y performativas. Recientemente ha explorado los efectos del plástico en el cuerpo, en el planeta y la contaminación bajo la influencia del consumismo. Delanuez fue uno de los ocho artistas seleccionados para recibir el premio nacional AIPP (Arte en Lugares Públicos) 2014-2017 en Bristol, TN por Steven Matijcio, curador del Contemporary Arts Center en Cincinnati, Ohio. Interpretación creativa
Cuando escuché la historia de Elsa, me identifiqué con ella, como una mujer joven, casada y con un bebé recién nacido en brazos tratando de darle sentido a su vida. Su historia me hizo retroceder al impetuoso tiempo de la juventud. Me hizo pensar en aves jóvenes volando libres y haciendo nidos de ideas en el pelo de Elsa. Para mí, Elsa es una soñadora, una artista inocente que decidió arriesgarse y saltar a una historia de ideales con visiones de perfección. En sus sueños, había un deseo y una necesidad de tener éxito, poder obtener dinero para los pañales de su hijo, tener una casita y experimentar la profunda emoción de viajar en un avión como una turista rica de Argentina. Decidí tomar una fotografía en blanco y negro y verter cera encáustica sobre ella para evocar un sueño y los arrebatos de locura que permanecen en la memoria de la juventud. En la fotografía, una niña extiende un manto a través de su imaginación. Imaginé el futuro de las decisiones de Elsa en pequeñas cajas que simulan fantasías en compartimentos transparentes que permanecen fragmentados pero capturados eternamente en el tiempo.
